The hotel industry employs 170,191 people and generated €10,438 million in revenue in 2020. The hotel classification includes 4,168 unranked, 361 one-star, 3,504 two-star, 6,105 three-star, 2,272 four-star, and 440 five-star establishments. Hotels are defined under the French General Tax Code and Tourism Code, with provisions effective from December 31, 2023.
