🍾 Austrian oenotourism group Loisium opened its third resort, the first in France, last summer near Épernay in Champagne, with another soon to follow in Alsace. Designed by architects Sanjit Manku and Patrick Jouin, the 4-star resort integrates with its natural surroundings in the Montagne de Reims park, offering views over rolling hills. The design emphasizes a connection with the landscape through simple lines and transparency. The resort features a concrete, glass, metal, and light oak structure with 107 rooms and suites and spaces celebrating champagne, including a central patio, a salon-bar with organic-shaped pastel chairs, a mezzanine library, and the promising young chef Antoine Madelaine’s dining area.

🏡 Overlooking Vence, the former Templar fortress, now a 5-star establishment in the Oetker Collection, offers views to the Mediterranean. The Rossini bar, led by Naples-native head barman Emanuele De Rosa for three years, transforms from serving amber tea with pastries under 18th-century tapestries in the morning to rosé from Côtes-de-Provence and Sauvignon Blanc from Loire accompanied by tapas from Michelin-starred chef Jean-Luc Lefrançois during the day. The venue comes to life before sunset, with music and a selection of cocktails, like the strawberry-pureé Rossini and the Côte d'Azur with vodka, fresh lemon, and grapefruit juice.

🍺 In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Accor Arena in Paris, a hidden bar named Somewhere Bar has been inaugurated. Accessible only to Accor group clients and All loyalty program members, this speakeasy features a cozy lounge atmosphere with a circular bar. It represents the Handwritten Collection by Accor, which consists of 17 hotels in 11 countries. New additions include Fort Saint-Laurent Hôtel & Spa in Lyon and Hotel Maison Hamelin in Paris' 16th district.

🌊 In February 2020, a wildfire fueled by over 100 km/h winds devastated 40% of Australia's third-largest island, home to 4,000 residents and four times larger than Hong Kong. The disaster took down a lodge built by Hayley and James Baillie 12 years prior, leaving only an iron kangaroo sculpture intact. By December, the Baillies had reconstructed the hotel with the help of architect Max Pritchard.
