💻 L'Arcep published its annual "Pour un numérique soutenable" report, revealing an increasing environmental footprint for France's digital sector. In its 4th edition, the report included data from mobile network equipment providers. Data centers, telecom operators, and the manufacturing and use of devices are the primary contributors. Data centers saw an 11% increase in greenhouse gas emissions and a 19% rise in water consumption to 681,000 m³ in 2023, claiming 46% of the digital sector's carbon footprint. Telecom operators' emissions grew by 4%, despite a 5.8% national decrease and a contrasting 2% increase in their electricity usage. Devices are the largest factor, accounting for 50% of the digital carbon footprint, with 42% from manufacturing and 8% from usage. Despite a decrease in new device consumption in 2023, screen sizes increased, impacting the carbon footprint.

The Green Collection spans 60 countries and 260 destinations, with Europe accounting for 81% of the establishments.
