Travelers consult an average of 21 accommodation options over a month-long decision period. The top comparison criteria are cancellation flexibility (59%), good reviews (53%), special offers (50%), easy refund options (41%), friend recommendations (31%), loyalty programs (27%), and environmental considerations (15%). The recommended response includes adapting pricing, payment, and cancellation policies to fit consumer anxiety levels and leveraging revenue management techniques.

Concrete actions include being visible, using social media effectively, turning employees into ambassadors, telling inspiring human stories, leveraging video, revamping job offers, and taking prompt, adjustable actions. Employer branding is a strategic imperative for the hospitality industry to make careers attractive and proactively recruit talent.

This sale was anticipated for years due to Sabre's reluctance to heavily invest in Hospitality Solutions, particularly as its flagship reservation engine, SynXis, lagged behind competitors without significant AI integration. Less than two years ago, Accor intended to transfer its TARS reservation system to Sabre SynXis but switched to Amadeus instead. This deal enables Sabre to reduce its debt and refocus on its strengths.
