The Marriott International expansion in Madagascar includes two new hotels, signaling investor confidence and marking a notable entry into the emerging market.

🏖️ Golf Plaza, the former flagship hotel in Sainte-Maxime, closed in 2016, with its sale by owners Natixis and Fortis repeatedly failing due to legal challenges by former leaseholder Amarante, evicted in 2019. JJW, Amarante's owner, was liquidated in 2021. Sainte-Maxime's mayor announced the sale finalized in June 2024 without contingencies, as reported by Var Matin on July 5, 2024. The buyer's identity remains unknown.

🍴 Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, highlights Dubai's evolving gastronomy scene. The 3rd MICHELIN Guide Dubai selection, revealed at One&Only One Za’abeel, awarded two MICHELIN stars to Row on 45 by British chef Jason Atherton and one MICHELIN star each to La Dame de Pic Dubai by Anne-Sophie Pic, Smoked Room by Dani García, and Sagetsu by Tetsuya Wakuda. 🏠 Ar Collection Hotels opened a new 25-room hotel, including three suites, named La Pension du moulin in Pont-Aven, originally built in 1892. The hotel pays tribute to the nearby Michelin-starred restaurant Rosmadec Le Moulin and is managed by chef Sébastien Martinez. Rooms are named after artists like Emile Bernard and Paul Gauguin, reflecting the city's rich artistic heritage.

🏖️ The $500 million AIDA project, set to open in December 2028, includes a 140-room 5-star resort with a luxury hotel, suspended suites, furnished villas, serviced apartments, an 18-hole golf course, a members-only club, and the Cliff Hanging Night Club. Located seaside with a private beach, AIDA is a joint venture between Dar Global and the Trump Organization, in partnership with Oman's Omran Group. 📌 Scandic Go launched in September 2023, gaining popularity among guests and property owners, leading to new partnerships. Scandic will add 176 hotel rooms in Lilla Bommen, Göteborg, and 100 rooms in Umeå by converting office spaces. Property conversions start Q1 2025 and hotels to open by H1 2026. Aiming to add 1,000 to 1,500 rooms annually to their portfolio, Scandic sees Göteborg as a key market and Umeå attractive for various travelers.

🏨 Madrid-based Room Mate Hospitality & Leisure, S.L. acquired Valencia's Staying Valencia, a portfolio of boutique hotels and aparthotels. Backed by TPG Angelo Gordon and Westmont Hospitality, which bought Room Mate Hotels in 2022, this strategic move aims to expand Room Mate's presence in Spain, especially in Valencia, Spain's third-largest city. Staying Valencia operates ten establishments, including the award-winning Helen Berger Hotel. Post-acquisition, Room Mate Hotels plans to integrate and rebrand these properties. The financial situation of Room Mate Hotels has improved since its 2022 takeover, with investment in hotel revamps positioning it for further international growth.
