💰 Since its inception in January 2019, the METRO endowment fund has supported over 80 projects and launched its 6th external call for projects. The initiative targets project holders focused on meals as a social link, spanning three categories: solidarity and social bonding, professional integration and upskilling, and education on balanced nutrition. Candidates have until April 6, 2025, to apply at https://www.fonds-metro.org/appel-a-projets/#candidater. A jury of professionals will select the projects.

📑 On December 11, Hyatt celebrated the graduation of students from its RiseHY program, aimed at helping school dropouts and those distant from traditional career paths, mainly in the hospitality sector. The program, launched in France in 2019, successfully helped over 8,700 global youths and aims to support 10,000 by the end of 2025. RiseHY, in partnership with Les Déterminés and supported by France Travail and the Région Île-de-France, aligns with upcoming employment-focused events.

🚨 SGHEG employees at Hôtel des Roches and Îles du Salut went on strike on February 18, 2025, in French Guiana, protesting worsened working conditions since their transfer from Sodexo over a year ago. Under Jean-Luc le West's management, they face delayed salaries, unpaid hours, supplier account issues, lack of protective gear, and unexplained hikes in health insurance costs. ESA clients from Centre Spatial Guyanais reported dissatisfaction with the service quality affected by these issues.

🏨 Hilton expanded its portfolio at record levels in the Caribbean/Latin America (CALA) region in 2024, now boasting nearly 280 hotels across over 30 countries and territories, with a development pipeline of over 130 hotels. Key developments include luxury and lifestyle projects like Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica and Conrad Los Cabos, as well as the introduction of Spark by Hilton in 2025 and expansion of Home2 Suites by Hilton. Hilton is also growing in targeted-service and premium economy segments.

🏡 In the face of economic, political, and environmental uncertainties, the Observatoire de l'Immobilier Durable (OID) in France published its Barometer on energy and environmental performance of buildings (BPE) in 2023, analyzing over 31,200 buildings or 113 million m² of residential and tertiary real estate. Despite a persistent inflationary crisis that saw energy prices double for businesses from 2021 to 2023, the real estate sector marked progress with all building types reporting a decrease in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions between 2022 and 2023, with the tertiary sector's consumption dropping by 7.1% compared to the residential sector's 2.1% reduction. The data represent an unmatched sample in France.

🏨 The French MOB HOTEL group, founded in 2017, has been certified BCorp, recognizing its high standards in social, environmental impact, and governance. Founder Cyril Aouizerate emphasizes the company's commitment to being a vector for social and ecological transformation through engaged hospitality, positioning MOB as a pioneer in responsible, humanist, and cultural hotel experiences that promote activism with every stay.

🏃 Nathalie Delattre, French Minister of Tourism, visited the Pullman Paris Centre-Bercy for the 20th anniversary of the Disability Law, advocating France as an exemplary tourist destination for people with disabilities. The Pullman is accredited with the Tourism & Handicap Label, servicing all four types of disabilities. Athletes Hakim Arezki, an Accor employee and Paralympic gold medalist, and Ryadh Sallem, a multi-sport wheelchair athlete, were present. Accor Group's Deputy General Manager Jean-Jacques Morin revealed that 6% of Accor employees have a disability, 80% of which are not apparent. Accor has 400 hotels with the Tourism & Handicap Label and is committed to further improvements.

🌍 MAGORA, a leader in managed real estate, launched its own CSR label, the Charte Verte, featuring 30 demanding criteria. The label, already implemented in 36 Odalys Vacances and Odalys City establishments, aligns with Atout France's 100% RSE criteria and most Clé Verte obligatory criteria. The Charte Verte, part of MAGORA's CSR efforts focusing on environmental preservation, societal solidarity, and responsible employment and governance, aims to expand to other brand establishments.

🏨 Accor expands in Spain with two new hotels: Novotel Valencia Lavant and Ibis Styles Santander. Novotel Valencia Lavant, the first of the brand in Valencia, offers 370 rooms with a contemporary design. The hotel, strategically located between the city center and Palacio de Congresos, includes a two-level rooftop terrace with a pool and bar. The Sundukovy Sisters Design & Architecture Studio designed the property, aligning with Accor's sustainability standards.
