🔝 France's Ministry of the Interior announced a driving license points reform effective from January 1, 2024, enhancing road safety and tailoring penalties to riskier driving behaviors. Speeding over 50 km/h results in a 6-point reduction and immediate license suspension. Alcohol levels of 0.5-0.8 g/L and driving under the influence of drugs lead to a 6 or 8-point reduction, respectively, both with immediate suspensions. Using handheld phones while driving deducts 3 points. Improved training will allow recovering up to 4 points annually via safety courses, aiming to reduce road accidents and fatalities.
