🏕 In France, hotel chains and groups accounted for 59% of the outdoor hotel sector's (camping) revenue in 2019, rising from 35% in 2010, while independent operators now generate 41%. During the summer of 2023, there were 141.7 million overnight stays in the sector, outpacing traditional hotel accommodations. France boasts 685,400 camping pitches, exceeding the 655,900 hotel rooms available. 40% of camping spots are now considered upscale.
