  • Ronan Daniel

✈️ The debate around airplane mode persists despite no documented accidents from smartphone interference. The FCC implemented the precautionary measure in 1991. Captain Steve, a pilot with 350,000 TikTok followers, explains potential distractions from device connections. A 2014 study on 1,152 Americans found 64% consider not using airplane mode unacceptable, rising to 82% among those over 65. While connected devices may not crash a plane, they risk onboard tension.

Airbus confiant pour lancer son avion à hydrogène entre 2035 et 2040

  • Ronan Daniel
  • 9 avril 2025
✈ Airbus updates its ZEROe project roadmap, aiming to conduct trials in 2027 for an all-electric hydrogen-fueled aircraft, with commercialization expected in the late 2030s. The European aerospace consortium's third Airbus Summit on March 24 and 25, 2023, reveals the plane will have four 2-megawatt electric motors powered by fuel cells converting hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, supplied by two liquid hydrogen tanks. Ground tests are slated for Munich, Germany, in 2027. Initially planned for 2035, technological maturity issues led to a 25% funding cut, but Airbus remains committed to hydrogen as a key to decarbonizing aviation. The ZEROe project, announced in 2020 and now focusing on a fully electric solution, anticipates supportive technological and regulatory environments.

L’innovation au service du renouveau des croisières, un modèle à suivre pour l’aérien ?

  • Ronan Daniel
  • 8 avril 2025
🚢 In 2024, the cruise market saw a 20% increase in travelers over 2019, surpassing the air travel sector, which only experienced a 10% growth. The pandemic had initially reduced cruise attendance by 80% in 2020, while air travel dropped by two-thirds. Recovery began in 2023, with American cruises resuming in 2021, leading to a concept known as "revenge-travel." Despite the demand, cruise prices remained competitive, historically 15-20% lower than comparable land stays, and stabilized at 25-30% below post-pandemic, after peaking at 50% savings. The Lufthansa Innovation Hub study highlighted that cruise-related patent filings, which had been rising since 2016, surged during the pandemic, with 14% focusing on health protection and 50% on onboard services and entertainment. MSC Cruises' innovation includes a 1,000m² digital display on a terminal façade. Millennials, making up a quarter of the clientele in 2021, increased to over a third (34%) by 2025, with customer satisfaction on TripAdvisor and CruiseLine matching pre-pandemic levels, unlike with airlines.
