Avec son « HyperTube », la Corée du Sud relance l’hyperloop

  • Ronan Daniel
  • 5 mai 2025
🚀 South Korea launched the "Hypertube" project in April 2025, with an initial investment of 12.7 billion won (€8.1 million) to develop technology akin to Elon Musk's 2013 hyperloop concept. The Korean version aims for trains traveling at 1200 km/h using magnetic levitation and low-pressure tubes. Despite China's earlier MagLev launch in 2021 and Japan's delayed Shinkansen Chūō, South Korea's expertise in electric motors, low-pressure tubes, and superconducting electromagnets positions it competitively. Prototypes will be tested until 2037, targeting Hypertube service commencement in 2038.

TNMT suggests the airline sector adopt similar wearable tech for payment, baggage tracking (like Apple AirTags used by United Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM), and passenger navigation. SITA's study indicates passengers' willingness to share personal data for expedited processes.
